:::Who We Are:::
Autismvictory.com is an affiliate site of
Victorystore.com.
Through this site we hope to bring an awareness of autism
and aspergers. Our focus is to provide a social network
for families that live with these disorders. We will do
our best to obtain and share the latest information, developments
and breakthrough treatments. It is here that families can
share their personal stories with one another, share thoughts
and ideas that can be linked together to help build results.
Today's ideas can create the way for tomorrow's cure.
In order to open the lines of communication, we will
be working on several online tools to make this happen.
First: All regularly updated articles will
allow comments to be read and shared.
Second: There will be a public calendar
with major upcoming events. It will list events such as
seminars, fundraisers, social awareness events, political
movements and more. You will also be able to submit and
post related events as well.
Third: Podcasting will allow people
to listen to different interviews and stories in a MP3 format.
Fourth: This site will provide a wiki
page where people can change, add and share information.
Together we can...together we can bring awareness
to people, together we can fight this disease, and together
we can find a cure.
:::A Word from the AutismVictory.com sponsor:::
When we launched VictoryStore.com, we never expected to
be involved with autism awareness; but sometimes a door
opens and you walk through. Several years ago, we
were selling magnetic bumper stickers and ribbons for various
organizations. Professionals and parents involved
with autism began emailing and calling us asking if we carried
these same items related to Autism Awareness. We did
not and did not plan on offering these products. Nevertheless,
the calls kept coming in. So we began offering a few items
and the response was immediately significant.
As we sold these items, we wanted to find a way
to help organizations involved with Autism Awareness.
We chose our local parents organization and began donating
10% of proceeds to them. But quickly, the amount of
the monthly contribution grew to a size that we felt we
needed to contribute it to other organizations involved
with research and awareness for autism. We have chosen
several over the years, but we are proud that we have been
able to donate more than $15,000 to autism organizations
over the last two years.
Today, we are using part of the proceeds gained from
Autism Awareness items to launch a new social networking
site: AutismVictory.com. The purpose of the
site is to give parents and professionals a place to share
articles, ideas and hope. There is no charge to participate
in the site and VictoryStore.com has paid for the construction
of the site and all carrying charges.
The site moderator is Joyce Grubbs, my mother.
She has been a health care professional for most of her
life having served in nursing, working with the terminally
ill and the homeless. We also have members of our
family who have been diagnosed with Aspergers so she has
familiarity with this issue as well. We do not hold
her out to be an expert, but only a moderator to help guide
the conversation and resources of the site.
We hope this site will become a useful resource and see
it as another way that we can help in the effort to raise
awareness and find a cure for Autism and Aspergers.
